Sam Raimi to start filmed 'Oz' on June 2011, No WoW Movie in the Mix

The Production Weekly, a reputable site according to The Collider, has posted in Twitter something that has put the movie critic sites abuzz with speculation concerning the World of Warcraft film.

"Oz, The Great and Powerful" is scheduled to begin principle photography in June 2011.

This is the film that Sam Raimi said he wasn't to committed to when interviewed by The Collider a few weeks ago at the Saturn Awards.

In that interview, Sam Raimi had talked a lot about World of Warcraft, and looked like he was more enthusiastic about working on that project. However, he did mention he had loved the Oz script, and also said that he read a 40 pages treatment of the Warcraft film.

The Collider offers some speculative insight to justify why Oz has better chances than Warcraft in his production schedule.

Bottomline, and I have no magic 8 ball, the Warcraft film won't be on the big screen minimum until 2012 or beyond.

Will Legendary Pictures offer sneak peeks at any future BlizzCon? I hope so. We have seen Marvel fans get previews on possible actors, we have seen Captain America concept art, and photography, etc. Same with Ironman II and the Fantastic Four.

I would really love to see these types of pre-production and production thriller viral announcements and material come out of Legendary Pictures, and Blizzard Entertainment. That's what fans love to see. After all, Blizzard announces the games two or three years in advance and fills us in with teasers.
