Indie Developer Tells Mark Rein to "F**k Off !"

Even as Shafter Vs Kotic winds down, the games industry air is turning blue once again as Cliff Harris of Positech Games a rather unpleasant encounter with Epic's Mark Rein.

Harris and several other independent developers were giving a talk at the Develop Conference about 'microstudios' and the intrinsic value of being able to directly communicate with players in a small fanbase, one-on-one.

"At this point, there was this derisive snort from this guy in the front row, who said something to the effect of 'one guy? who cares, that's a waste of time' ... it turned out this guy was Mark Rein from Epic."

Harris takes exception to this attitude, saying: "He may laugh when me and Mark [Morris] discuss the pitiful money our companies make, and giggle at the fact that we reply to gamers on a one-on-one basis ... But fuck him."

"If Mark [Morris] from introversion suggests I'm doing it wrong, thats cool ... But Triple-A studio bosses trying to lecture me on how to communicate better with gamers? Fuck off."

Epic MegaGames was founded as a shareware company in 1991 by Tim Sweeney, who originally made games in his parents basement. Rein, perhaps, has forgotten this.
