Atari's Classic 'Haunted House' getting a reboot

We have fond memories of playing Haunted House on the Atari 2600. The game challenged you to explore a creepy house in search of items while avoiding ghosts, spiders and other enemies. If one touched you, the hero (who was just a pair of eyes) freaked out. It was definitely one of the survival horror pioneers, way before Resident Evil.

Today, Atari announced that it plans to bring the game back with a stylish reboot.

From Atari:

"Haunted House, a classic franchise from Atari, is back! Haunted House is set to release this Fall on Wii, Xbox LIVE and Windows PC Download, re-imagined for a new generation of gamers."

"Atari has given Haunted House a modern gameplay update mixed with the proven fun factor and suspense of the original blockbuster game. Over thirty years have passed since your grandfather disappeared without a trace while searching for the magical urn, a mystery that has hangover the heads of you and your family for decades. Now a mysterious letter from the town of Spirit Bay has dragged you to Graves Mansion, to follow in the footsteps of your grandfather."

"This classic game has been remade for a new generation authentic replication of arcade gameplay, rich 3D environments, interactive objects, dynamic storylines, and new characters. Come find out why the game that captured the hearts of a generation is set to do it again."

According to Atari, it's trailer would be released soon.
