"Consoles are the past !" Says the Bioware Co-Founder

Bioware co-founder Dr. Greg Zeschuk has claimed that studios need to branch away from console gaming and diversify their business model.

Speaking at a keynote presentation at the Develop Conference this morning, Zeschuk said that Bioware was looking to get involved in everything from Facebook games to triple A titles.
"The future isn't necessarily on console," Zeschuk said. "That's the past. It's going to be a strong thing going forward, but the future is in all of these new businesses that are starting up."

"We want to expand because, you look at what kids are playing on. Kids are playing on iPhones and iPads. The 3DS looks pretty amazing. All these platform options, we want to be touching on all those."

In fact Zeschuk went on to talk about how Bioware had already ventured out beyond traditional console mentioning Facebook apps and Mass Effect for the iPhone, "The team went back and made some more games that we never released that were way better. Large scale MMOs. Small scale MMOs."

Don't worry though, those of you who are suckers for a Triple A blockbuster won't be left wanting. Bioware ""is still going to do the giant stuff."

"We're going to continue to do triple-A console, but we're also going to be exploring pretty aggressively."
